Musician, Songwriter, Producer, Music video Director, and Editor was born in 1977 in the killing field of Laos. Gumby’s family of 8 siblings survived through the Vietnam War. His father was handicap from the war. He came to the United States of America in October of 1982. Gumby’s family was the first Asian refuge family to be placed on the North side, Minneapolis projects Housing of Minnesota. At the time was populated by African Americans. They as a family are strong mentally. They have helped each other out with everything. They kept each other motivated to have a better life. Within years Gumby’s family managed to purchase a new home. Thanks to my hard working father and always caring beautiful mother. Gumby’s as a young teen, started to watch MTV rap music on T.V. Gumby was influenced by many of the artists like DJ Quick, LL cool J, NWA, DMX and the pioneer of rap 2pac. Since, then music has always been in his heart and mind. the early 90’s me, Gumby’s childhood experience was rough with drugs and gangs. Gumby and friends formed a group called “Lao Boyz” affiliates with the Bloods. Mid 90’s Gumby began to encounter with the law. At the age of fourteen He was heavily involved into Gang activities. He became one of the highest Minneapolis profile suspect with the gang task force unit involving in numerous crimes. Gumby was interview by the local news anchor about my life of crime documentary title “Don at 16”. The documentary was aired nationally on Public Broadcast Station (PBS). His life of crime continued. Gumby was at a wedding, and encounter some rival gangs. Shots were fired and bullets were exchange. People got injured and He was on Headline News on pending charges of 2nd degree attempted murder. His incarceration Gumby was fighting my attempted murder case, 2nd degree assault etc. While behind bars, Gumby became good friend with some cellmates. They gave good advice to him, because they noticed his talents for writing lyrics and rapping in his jail cell. They motivated him into music. while awaiting for trail. Gumby’s case got dismissed for the attempted murder due to self defense and pled guilty to 5th degree assault Rioting. From that point on Gumby looked at life in a different direction and started to write music from his pass life experience. Buddha blessed him with a second chance of life. He took advantage of what was granted to him, and started to focus more on a better life and his music career. He invested his own money and gained access to the music studio within months. He and 4 other friends formed a group called (Lao Felonz) Once sign by Staticdokky ENT located in Rode Island, released there first album title “Three headed elephants” which sold over three thousands copies nation wide off the trunk of his car and mailing it to friends out of states. They have a lot of good feed about there music. It inspired him to continue to on with his music. His popularity got some local and national promoters attention and was sponsored to perform his music in Oklahoma State, Virginia, Houston Texas, Dallas Texas, Riverside Ca and Columbus Ohio so far. It was the start of his hip-hop shows out of Minnesota. It was a great experience and people other than Minnesotan show their love and support. He then realized he was admired by many young people. Staticdokky and had some misunderstanding and the contract was terminated. Once his music was introduced nation wide by utilizing the internet as a promotional tool. Gumby released his 2nd album (Fast Life) because of his 1st album success. Gumby’s music career and life was moving fast forward in the right direction and is now the most known popularly Lao Hip-Hop Artist world wide. He had also been involved in concert events opening up for International Laos and Thailand star singers such as (Alexandra Bouxouei, SEK Loso,Ya-Ya-Ying,Jennifer, Katreeya English, Pamela Bowden and Tai Orrathai. He also opened for Nationally known BET freestyle winner Jin “The M.C”. Within years my performance was recognized. Gumby would then collaborate with a lot of local and national artist in the Asian communities throughout the 50 States and Internationally. On January,20, 2007. Gumby also known as PRYCE was nominated for the twin cities first annual hip-hop as (The Best kept Secret) and WON the AWARD. Gumby made History to be the first Asian hip-hop artist to WIN an AWARD in Minnesota. From there on his Recognition has grown. Gumby’s fan base has went up the scale world wide receiving tons of emails and comments everyday. Gumby then release his 3rd album (Time to Pay the Pryce) In the Summer of 2007.The album became a success and drew a lot of promoters from different states to book me for shows. He was Feature In the music section off the 1st Lao magazine call (LaoRoots.com) Located in San Diego CA. Follow by a role in the movie (Praschan requiem) base out of Paris France, launching Spring of 2008 and IN3DRAGON by Lao hollywood. He was Interview by voice of america and vientianetimes.com. he's working on his 4rd album (The Pryce is Rite) in English words and (Tum-Ma-Sot) an Album in his own native language. Album will be Launch the same time in 2008. He already launched the single (Stunting on the scene and 2008 Lao Anthem) and music video.
